Description
Issued in 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, this 1/4 Dollar coin celebrates the U.S. Constitution, one of the founding documents in American history.
The obverse features the portrait of James Madison, fourth President of the United States and a key figure in drafting the Constitution. It is accompanied by the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the dates "1776-2026". The mint mark D indicates it was struck at the Denver Mint.
The reverse depicts Independence Hall in Philadelphia, an iconic landmark of American history where the nation's great founding documents were debated and adopted. The famous phrase "WE THE PEOPLE", which opens the Preamble to the United States Constitution, holds a prominent place in the design.
The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "LIBERTY", "U.S. CONSTITUTION" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" complete the reverse.
This issue is part of the exceptional numismatic programme dedicated in 2026 to the Semiquincentennial, celebrating 250 years of the American Declaration of Independence.
