Coin Pièce Niue island 2 dollars Silver 2020

This coin was issued in 2020 by the island of Niue, a territory associated with New Zealand whose monetary authority is recognised for striking commemorative coins under official licence. It has a face value of 2 dollars and is part of the series dedicated to the DC Comics universe, produced in the Chibi graphic style, characterised by deliberately simplified and stylised character proportions inspired by Japanese aesthetics.

The character featured on this coin is Green Lantern, one of the most iconic superheroes in the DC Comics universe. This hero, whose power is drawn from a will-powered ring, is depicted here in a Chibi style that softens his features while retaining the character's distinctive visual elements, including his green and black suit and the iconic Green Lantern symbol.

The coin is struck in silver with a purity of 999?, corresponding to so-called 'fine' silver. It weighs 31.1 grams, equivalent to exactly one troy ounce, the standard unit of measurement in the precious metals industry. It features a Proof finish, a superior striking quality achieved through the use of polished dies and carefully prepared blanks, giving the coin mirror-like surfaces that contrast with the frosted relief motifs.

The mintage is limited to 2,000 pieces, making it a restricted-issue release. This limitation is an intrinsic characteristic of the coin as a numismatic object, guaranteeing the rarity of the production. Taken together, these features ? striking quality, precious metal, official DC Comics licence and limited mintage ? objectively define this coin within the landscape of contemporary commemorative issues.
