The Libertad silver coin minted in 2024, from Mexico, is a collector's item. It is composed of pure silver, with a fineness of 999/1000, emphasizing the purity of the precious metal used. The total weight of the coin is 1.55 grams, which is equivalent to 1/20 of a troy ounce. Its diameter is 16.2 millimeters and its thickness is approximately 1 millimeter.
The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of the United Mexican States, with the legend "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" inscribed in an arc above. The reverse depicts the allegorical figure of the Winged Victory, facing left. In the background, two emblematic volcanoes of the Mexican landscape are represented. Inscriptions also appear on this side of the coin, including "1/20 ONZA PLATA PURA 2017 LEY .999", indicating the weight and purity of the silver, as well as the year of issue. The mint mark "Mo" identifies the workshop of the Mexican Mint (Casa de Moneda de México) in Mexico City, where the coin was struck.
The edge of the coin is reeded, a common feature for coins. This commemorative coin does not have a defined face value, being more intended for collecting and investing in silver. It is issued by Banco de Mexico.
