This Australian 50 cent silver coin was issued in 2021 by the Perth Mint, one of the most renowned minting institutions in the world for the quality of its strikes. It is part of a series showcasing the colourised kangaroo, the iconic animal of the Australian continent, depicted here with the application of a colourisation technique on the relief.
The coin is struck in Proof quality, guaranteeing high-precision details, mirror fields and contrasting frosted reliefs, achieved through careful striking on carefully polished blanks. The limited mintage of 5,000 pieces gives this issue a particularly selective character.
Composed of fine silver with a fineness of 999.9?, this coin has a weight of 15.553 grams, corresponding to half a troy ounce of pure silver, and a diameter of 32.6 millimetres.
The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of England and the Commonwealth, in accordance with the Australian monetary standards of the time. The reverse is adorned with a colourised kangaroo, whose chromatic treatment adds a distinctive visual dimension compared to traditional bare metal strikes.
It is important to note that while the coin itself is in perfect condition, an inherent characteristic of Proof quality, the original case shows some damage. This particularity should be taken into account by collectors who attach importance to the complete integrity of the original packaging.
