Description

This banknote was issued by Mongolia in 2014. It has a face value of 1 togrog. This banknote belongs to the AE series.

The front of the banknote features several graphic and textual elements. There is a representation of the Chinthe lion integrated into a circular motif evoking a coin. A Paiza, a tablet of authority used by Mongolian officials and envoys to obtain goods and services, is also visible. Inscriptions in Mongolian script and Manchu script complete the front. The face value "1" can be read, as well as the name of the issuing bank "Mongol Bank" and the face value "Nige Tögrög" (one togrog).

The back of the banknote features the Soyombo, the national emblem of Mongolia. In the watermark, there is a portrait of Chinggis Khan. The dimensions of the banknote are 115 mm in length and 57 mm in width.

The Chinthe lion is a protective mythological figure often represented in Mongolian art. The Paiza recalls the history of the Mongol Empire and its administrative system. The Soyombo symbolizes the independence and sovereignty of Mongolia. Chinggis Khan is an emblematic historical figure, founder of the Mongol Empire.
