This 2 euro commemorative coin was issued by Monaco in 2021 to mark the 10th anniversary of the wedding of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene. It is struck in BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) quality.
The obverse of the coin features the effigies of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene. The inscription "MARIAGE PRINCIER" appears below the portraits, framed by the mint mark and the engraver's mark, as well as the dates "2011" and "2021". The name of the issuing country, "MONACO", is inscribed above the portraits.
The reverse of the coin displays the map of the European continent on a dynamic background composed of the twelve stars of the European Union. The face value, "2 EURO", is also indicated.
The edge of the coin is finely milled and bears the inscription "2 **" repeated six times, alternately upright and inverted.
The coin is bimetallic, with a nickel center covered in nickel brass and a cupronickel ring. It weighs 8.5 grams, has a diameter of 25.75 mm and a thickness of 2.2 mm. The mintage of this coin is limited to 15,000 copies.
The Monnaie de Paris produced this commemorative coin. The designer of the reverse is Luc Luycx.
