Tache en forme de point sur la boîte en carton (marque d'autocollant)
Born in Monaco in 1768, he was a portrait artist of Napoleon I and later a professor at the École des Beaux-Arts. He was appointed first sculptor to King Louis XVIII in 1821. In addition to the statue of Napoleon on the column of the Grande Armée in Boulogne-sur-Mer, his major works can be found in Paris: twenty bas-reliefs for the column of the Place Vendôme, the equestrian statue of Louis XIV at the Place des Victoires for which he received the title of baron, Henri IV as a child, Aristaeus and Hercules overpowering Achelous, all three in the Louvre Museum. The piece is based on an original sculpture representing the Nymph Salmacis.
