The 50 Centavos Mexican banknote, issued in 1915, features a front print in black on a subtly colored orange and cream background. The serial number is printed in red. On the main face, an allegorical female figure occupies the left of the banknote. She is depicted holding a sword in her right hand and a balance in her left hand, potentially symbolizing justice and balance. The central part of this face illustrates a rural scene with a farm and a snowy mountain in the background, evoking a typical Mexican landscape. On the right, the face value of the banknote is highlighted by an ornamental guilloche.
The inscriptions on the obverse include "GOBIERNO CONVENCIONISTA DE MEXICO" at the top, indicating the issuing government. The date of issue, "Toluca Agosto 16 de 1915", is also specified. The face value, "CINCUENTA CENTAVOS", is repeated in words and numbers, ensuring clarity of the denomination. The phrase "Vale al portador CINCUENTA CENTAVOS" guarantees the value of the banknote to the bearer.
The back of the banknote is printed in purple and features a distinctive red seal. The central motif is a 50 Centavos coin, with the reverse of the coin partially covering the obverse. The face value is inscribed in ovals positioned to the left and right of this central motif. The dimensions of the banknote are 115 mm in length and 60 mm in width.
