This commemorative banknote, issued by Mexico in 2021, celebrates the 200th anniversary of the country's independence. It is made of polymer and has a face value of 20 pesos. The banknote measures 120 millimeters long and 65 millimeters wide, with a weight of one gram.
The obverse of the banknote features a fragment of the certified artwork "Solemn and Peaceful Entry of the Army of the Three Guarantees into Mexico City on September 27 of the Memorable Year 1821", attributed to an anonymous author. It shows the flag of the Army of the Three Guarantees flying on the left, while the flag of Mexico is visible on the right. The words "Veinte Pesos" are also printed on this side.
The reverse of the banknote highlights the mangrove ecosystem, with a representation of the Mexican crocodile (Crocodylus moreletii) and the roseate spoonbill (Platalea ajaja). This scene takes place in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, located in the State of Quintana Roo, a site recognized as a World Natural Heritage.
This banknote is part of the BF series and is a numismatic testimony to Mexico's history and biodiversity.
