This banknote is a 1000 Franc specimen, issued in 1955 for Martinique by the Caisse Centrale de la France d'Outre-Mer, part of the 1960 emission series. It measures 185 mm in length and 102 mm in width.
The front of the note features a multicolored design with a West Indian fisherman positioned on the left and center. Stylized butterflies adorn both sides of the main scene. The word "Martinique" is repeated in red in the margins. The main inscription reads "CAISSE CENTRALE DE LA FRANCE D'OUTRE-MER" and the value "MILLE FRANCS".
The back of the note also features a multicolored design. It depicts a woman carrying a basket of bananas, located in the center left. Stylized butterflies complete the aesthetic on each side. As on the front, the word "Martinique" is repeated in red in the margins. The inscriptions include the value "1000", the name of the issuing institution "CAISSE CENTRALE DE LA FRANCE D'OUTRE-MER", and the value "MILLE FRANCS". A legal notice is also present: "L'ART 139 DU CODE PÉNAL PUNIT DES TRAVAUX FORCES A PERPÉTUITÉ CEUX QUI AURONT CONTREFAIT OU FALSIFIE LES BILLETS DE BANQUE AUTORISÉES PAR LA LOI". The printer identified is the Banque de France.
