The 10 Euro Malta 2022 "Knights of the Past" is the second commemorative coin created through the close collaboration between the Central Bank of Malta and Germania Mint. The bullion series refers in a modern way to the traditions of the Order of Malta and its ups and downs in European history.

The obverse of the second coin in the series depicts the Knights of Malta confronting invaders during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565 - the most important battle in the island's history and one of the most important for Europe. The reverse of the coin as in 2021 depicts the coat of arms of the Central Bank of Malta on a shield held by a Maltese knight.

The €10 (2 oz) coin is issued in a specially upgraded edition of 999 coins (antique finish, fine gold plating), with a certificate of authenticity and a dedicated display case.
