The 5 Francs banknote from Madagascar, issued between 1937 and 1947, presents a set of distinctive characteristics.
On the front, the banknote highlights a portrait of Juno, integrated into a large medallion positioned on the left side of the vignette. Friezes composed of stylized fleur-de-lis serve as an ornamental frame to the entire motif. The inscriptions "BAQUE DE MADAGASCAR" and "CINQ FRANCS" are present, alongside the names of L.LECLERC and E. DELOCHE. The writing used is Latin. Ernest Deloche is identified as the engraver, while Léon Leclerc is credited as the designer.
The back of the banknote is characterized by a background composed of stylized fleur-de-lis. A large red number 5 is placed on the left, while article 139 of the penal code, also in red, appears on the right.
The dimensions of the banknote are 125 mm in length and 80 mm in width. The banknote weighs 1.
