This banknote, with a face value of 100 francs, was issued by the Bank of Madagascar. It circulated during the French colonial period, between 1928 and 1950. The banknote is rectangular and measures 183 mm long by 113 mm wide. Its substrate is paper.
The front of the banknote features, on the left, a father facing his wife and child, located on the right. In the background, on the left, two men stand on a quay, observing a cargo ship offshore. Aloalo motifs adorn the right and left sides of the vignette. The inscriptions "BANQUE DE MADAGASCAR", "100", "CENT FRANCS", as well as the mentions "Le Contrôleur Général" and "Le Directeur Général" are present. The names of the artists involved, "H. CAYON DEL." and "E. GASPÉ SC", are also inscribed. Eugène Gaspérini is identified as the engraver and Henri Félix Cayon as the designer.
On the back, we observe a close-up of a team of zebus, with another, larger team in the background. Various aloalo motifs frame the vignette. The inscriptions "100" and the names of the artists "H. CAYON DEL." and "E. DELOCHE SC" are visible. This banknote was issued by Madagascar and its dependencies, by the Bank of Madagascar. It was in use during the French colonial period, between 1928 and 1950. The currency of the time was the Madagascar Franc (1925-1945). This banknote is now demonetized.
