This banknote, with a nominal value of 100 francs, was issued by the Bank of Madagascar between 1928 and 1950. It belongs to the period of the French colony (1897-1946) and is made of paper. Its dimensions are 183 mm in length and 113 mm in width, and its shape is rectangular. It has been demonetized.
The front of the banknote features, on the left, a father facing his wife and child, located on the right. In the background, on the left, two men stand on a quay, waiting for a cargo ship offshore. Aloalo motifs are present on the right and left of the vignette. The inscriptions in Latin script include the mention "BANQUE DE MADAGASCAR", the value "100", the titles "Le Contrôleur Général" and "Le Directeur Général", as well as "CENT FRANCS". The names of the artists involved, "H. CAYON DEL." and "E. GASPÉ SC", are also indicated. Eugène Gaspérini is identified as the engraver and Henri Félix Cayon as the designer.
The back of the banknote features a close-up of a zebu team, with another larger team visible in the background. Various aloalo motifs frame the vignette. The inscriptions in Latin script include the value "100" as well as the names of the artists "H. CAYON DEL." and "E. DELOCHE SC". The issuer is identified as "Madagascar et dépendances (Madagascar)" and the issuing bank as the "Banque de Madagascar". The associated currency is the Madagascar Franc (1925-1945).
