The 500 riyal banknote, issued by Iran, dates from the period 1974-1979. This banknote commemorates the Pahlavi dynasty and represents Iranian cultural and historical elements.
The obverse of the banknote is predominantly brown in color against a complex background mixing green, red, yellow, and multicoloured underprints. It features the eighth portrait of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi in military uniform. To his right, the inscription "Commander-in-Chief" is visible. In the center, a traditional Persian carpet design is depicted. A yellow security thread is integrated into the banknote.
The reverse of the banknote uses a similar color palette, with brown dominating over a green, red, and yellow background, enriched with multicoloured motifs. The central element of this face is a representation of the Tomb of Hafez, located in Shiraz, an important cultural site in Iran.
The banknote's watermark represents the young Shah Pahlavi.
The banknote measures 160 mm in length and 77 mm in width.
