This 1 Sen banknote, issued by Indonesia in 1964, is part of the XDD series and is referenced under the designation P.90a. The front of the banknote features a peasant wearing a straw hat. The inscriptions "BANK INDONESIA", "GUBERNUR DIREKTUR" and "SATU SEN" are also present, along with the mention "P. N. PERTJETAKAN KEBAJORAN".
On the back, the banknote features geometric patterns. An inscription in the local language warns against counterfeiting and distributing counterfeit banknotes, stipulating that offenders will be prosecuted.
This banknote was printed by Pertjetakan Kebajoran, a printing company based in Jakarta, Indonesia, which operated from 1952 to 1971.
The signatures on the banknote are those of Governor Jusuf Muda Dalam and Director Hertatijanto. Its dimensions are 103 mm in length and 52 mm in width.
It should be noted that this series was released on December 13, 1965. Due to a devaluation of the rupiah of only 10 times instead of 1000, these small banknotes had practically no value when issued. Consequently, millions of these notes were never put into circulation.
