The 500 Rupee banknote, issued in India in 2024, features a distinctive design on both sides. This banknote is part of the 3HP series.
On the obverse, the banknote features a print in black and dull brown on a multicolored background in shades of gray and beige. The central element of this side is the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, positioned in the center of the banknote. Next to the effigy of Gandhi is the seal of the Reserve Bank. The emblem of Ashoka is visible on the right. The banknote incorporates a windowed security thread that changes color from green to blue depending on the angle of inclination.
The reverse of the banknote is printed in black on a multicolored gray and white background. The Red Fort of Delhi, surmounted by the Indian flag in color, is depicted, symbolizing an important historical and cultural element of India. The year of issue, 2024, is inscribed in the upper left of the banknote. A representation of Gandhi's glasses is placed under the watermark area.
A notable feature of this banknote is the panel located on the left, where the face value is written in small text in 15 official languages of India, namely: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The dimensions of the banknote are 150 mm in length and 66 mm in width.
