Hussein bin Talal, better known as Hussein of Jordan, was the king of Jordan. Born on November 14, 1935, he ruled over Jordan for a lengthy period from 1952 until his death in 1999. He ascended to the throne at the age of 17, succeeding his father, King Talal, who abdicated due to mental health issues.

Hussein was a significant and influential leader in the Middle East for several decades. He witnessed and was directly involved in many key events in the region's history, including the Arab-Israeli wars of 1948, 1967, and 1973. He also engaged in attempts to mediate and promote peace in the region, including supporting Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
