Superb German commemorative coin minted in 1993 in Hamburg (mint mark J) to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Robert Koch (1843?1910), a German physician and microbiologist, co-founder of modern bacteriology and winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1905, famous for isolating the bacilli of tuberculosis, cholera, and anthrax.

The obverse features the federal eagle with the inscription · BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND · DEUTSCHE 10 MARK 1993 · J.
