The 5 Francs banknote from the Banque de l'Afrique Occidentale, issued on April 22, 1942, features distinct visual characteristics on both sides.
On the obverse, the composition is centered around a male portrait. The mention "Banque De L'Afrique Occidental" appears in capital letters. There are also the indications "Le Président" and "Le Directeur General", as well as the face value "Cinq Francs". The name of the engraver, Ernest Deloche, and that of the designer, Sébastien Laurent, are also mentioned.
On the reverse, the central motif depicts a man actively weaving, illustrating a scene of artisanal work. This motif occupies a prominent place on this side of the banknote.
The dimensions of this banknote are 121 mm in length and 80 mm in width. The emission series is identified by the letter J.
