The front of the banknote features a woman holding two pitchers, positioned in the center left of the visual. In the background, antelopes can be observed. The inscriptions on this side of the banknote include the words "1000 BANQUE DE L'AFRIQUE OCCIDENTALE 1000" as well as the face value "MILLE FRANCS". The front of the banknote was designed by Sébastien Laurent. The engravers are Georges Léon Égalité Beltrand and Jules Piel. The script used on the banknote is Latin.
