This 1000 Francs banknote, issued in French Polynesia between 1971 and 1983, features a complex design on both sides. Its dimensions are 140 millimeters in length and 75 millimeters in width.
The obverse of the banknote is adorned with a red frame, embellished with white floral motifs that surround a multicolored illustration. On the right, you can observe the portrait of a young girl adorned with flowers in her hair. To the left of this figure, a traditional hut is depicted, flanked by palm trees. The face value of the banknote is written out in full in the center of the lower part, while its numerical value is visible in the upper corners.
The reverse of the banknote features a red frame, this time decorated with traditional Polynesian motifs, delineating another multicolored scene. The left part of this scene highlights the church of Vao, accompanied by a kagu bird, an endemic species of the region. On the right, a traditional-style hut is represented, guarded by two deer. A rectangle containing a promise text is located in the lower part of this face. The numerical value of the banknote is also repeated in the upper corners of the reverse.
