For several years now, the theme of excellence à la française has combined the expertise of excellence of one of the 70 houses of the Comité Colbert with that of La Monnaie de Paris, offering a singular collection that combines their respective talents.
Among the major houses to have collaborated with La Monnaie de Paris are Cartier in 2010, Baccarat in 2014, Sèvres-Cité de la Céramique in 2015, Van Cleef & Arpels in 2016, Guy Savoy in 2017, Boucheron in 2018, the Louvre Museum in 2019 and, more recently, Berluti in 2020.
In 2021, the Monnaie de Paris will team up with Dior to offer an exclusive collection combining their expertise and excellence.
Using the same design as the 1 kg gold coin, this note pays homage to the codes of the House of Dior: the shape of the iconic Miss Dior bottle, the houndstooth, the different Grasse roses and the couture knot. The word RF appears in the centre of the design in typography taken from the house's archives.
The reverse side represents the back of the bottle; the transparency of the piece is made possible by a window represented by Christian Dior's favourite star. The houndstooth is inscribed inside the bottle. The face value is in the centre of the star. The reverse side bears the signature of Joaquin Jimenez.
