Description

This bronze medal pays tribute to Robert Prigent, Director General of UNIOPSS, and was created by sculptor Paul Belmondo in 1976. Robert Prigent (1910-1995) was a French political and trade union figure, known for his commitment to the working-class family movement and his role in introducing women's suffrage in France.

The obverse of the medal features a portrait of Robert Prigent. The portrait is finely detailed, capturing Prigent's distinctive features. His name, "Robert Prigent", is inscribed in an arc above his portrait, while his position, "Directeur Général UNIOPSS", is mentioned below. The artist's signature, "Paul Belmondo", is discreetly affixed, testifying to the attribution of this work to a renowned sculptor.

The reverse of the medal features a symbolic composition. The year of creation, "1976", is highlighted. The rest of the reverse is devoted to allegorical motifs that probably represent Robert Prigent's values and areas of commitment, such as family, work, and social solidarity. These symbols are stylized and integrated into a balanced composition, reflecting the aesthetics of the time.

The medal is circular in shape and of considerable size, which allows one to appreciate the details of the engraving. The bronze used gives the medal a warm patina and an impression of durability. This medal is a historical and artistic testimony, commemorating the life and work of a prominent figure of the 20th century in France.
