This is a French banknote with a face value of 5,000 francs, issued on December 10, 1942, and part of the S.1131 series.
The front of the note features a personification of France, represented by a young woman in profile, wearing a laurel wreath. She holds in her hands an olive branch, a symbol of peace, as well as a winged statuette of victory. The wreath she wears is made of olive leaves, reinforcing the idea of peace. Agricultural elements, such as ears of wheat and oak leaves, as well as olive leaves, complete the motif. The face value "5000" is written in Latin, as well as "BANQUE DE FRANCE", and the words "CINQ MILLE FRANCS". The engravers of this banknote are Jules Piel and Marguerite Dreyfus (Rita), while the designer is Sébastien Laurent.
On the back, we find the same personification of France, the young woman with the laurel head, holding an olive branch and a winged statuette of victory. Ears of wheat, oak leaves and olive leaves are also present. A winged helmet is visible at the top of the banknote.
The dimensions of this banknote are 230 mm in length and 125 mm in width, with a weight of one gram.
