On the front, the banknote features a bust of Jean Racine positioned on the right. The background depicts the abbey of Port Royal des Champs. On the left, we find Racine's coat of arms, blazoned "azure with a silver swan." Floral motifs complete the ornamentation of this side.
The back of the banknote displays a bust of Jean Racine, this time placed on the left. In the background, a representation of the town of La Ferté-Milon is visible. On the right, various symbolic elements are grouped together, including parchments, a torch, and a quill. A statue, holding a mask of ancient tragedy, is also present, standing on a pedestal adorned with a lyre.
