This 100 Francs banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Cambrai on September 15, 1914. It belongs to the first series of banknotes issued by this institution. The text is written in French.
The obverse of the banknote features the following inscriptions: "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE CAMBRAI", indicating the issuer of the banknote. "PREMIERE SERIE" specifies that it is the first issue. The face value, "CENT FRANCS", is clearly displayed. The date of issue, "15 SEPTEMBRE 1914", is also mentioned. Three signatures appear under the titles "Le Trésorier", "Le Président" and "Le Caissier", authenticating the banknote. An important statement stipulates that "Le présent billet sera remboursé par la Chambre de Commerce de Cambrai cent jours après la signature de la paix." (This banknote will be reimbursed by the Chamber of Commerce of Cambrai one hundred days after the signing of peace). The printer's name, "IMP. DELIGNE & CIE CAMBRAI", is inscribed at the bottom.
The reverse of the banknote repeats some of the information present on the obverse. It includes the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE CAMBRAI" as well as the reimbursement clause: "Le présent billet sera remboursé par la Chambre de Commerce de Cambrai cent jours après la signature de la paix."
The banknote was printed by Imprimerie Fernand Deligne et Cie, located in Cambrai, France.
