This 50 centime note was issued by the City of Le Havre and the Le Havre Chamber of Commerce in 1914. This is an issue approved by the Superior Administration, as indicated on the front of the note. The front of the note also mentions that it is exchangeable for banknotes of the Banque de France.
The front of the note bears the following inscriptions in Latin characters: "VILLE DU HAVRE" and "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DU HAVRE", followed by the mention "Emission approuvée par l'Administration Supérieure". The face value "50 CENTIMES" is clearly indicated, as well as the mention "Echangeable contre des billets de la Banque de France". The signatures of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of the City of Le Havre also appear, accompanied by the date "1914".
The back of the note, also in Latin characters, bears the mention "Emission de remplacement du 15 janvier 1914", specifying that this note is redeemable no later than January 15, 1923. The name of the printer, BERGER-LEVRAULT, is indicated with the cities of NANCY, PARIS and STRASBOURG.
The note has a watermark representing bees. It was printed by Berger-Levrault. Its dimensions are 115 mm in length and 75 mm in width. The serial number of this specific note is 112 973.
