This 50 centime banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Sète, France, following a resolution of August 11, 1915. This issue was approved by the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Commerce of the time. The banknote belongs to Series A and bears the number 101.
On the front, the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE CETTE" is written at the top of the banknote, followed by mention of the deliberation of August 11, 1915, and its ministerial approval. The face value, "CINQUANTE CENTIMES", is clearly indicated. A specific serial number, "SERIE AX 148 5,693", is also present. The name of the printer, "IMP B ARNAUD _ LYON _ PARIS", appears at the bottom of the banknote.
The back of the banknote specifies the exchange conditions: "These vouchers can be exchanged in all branches of the Banque de France in the Hérault Department, for banknotes." The functions of the President and Treasurer are mentioned, respectively in the upper left and upper right. The exchange deadline is set at "eleven August one thousand nine hundred twenty", with the possibility of extending this deadline. The banknote has no watermark.
The printer of this banknote is B. Arnaud, a company based in Villeurbanne, France, which operated from 1898 to 1990. It should be noted that the spelling of the city of Sète is "CETTE" on these banknotes until 1927.
