This 50 centime banknote was issued in 1915 by the Chambers of Commerce of Rennes and Saint-Malo. It is a specific issue dated August 25, 1915, designed to circulate in the areas of influence of these two chambers of commerce.
On the front, the banknote features the words "CHAMBRES DE COMMERCE DE RENNES ET DE St MALO" in capital letters, emphasizing the issuing authority. Below, there is the indication "EMISSION DU 25 AOÛT 1915", specifying the date of issue. The face value, "50 CENTIMES", is clearly displayed in the center. The signatures of the President of the Rennes Chamber of Commerce and the President of the Saint-Malo Chamber of Commerce authenticate the banknote.
The reverse details the terms of exchange and reimbursement of the banknote. It is stipulated that the banknote is exchangeable at the branch of the Banque de France in Rennes and its office in Saint-Malo, provided that the amount presented reaches at least 20 francs. The Bank reserves the right not to exchange smaller amounts. In addition, it is specified that any holder of these bonds may demand reimbursement on sight if they present them for a sum of at least 100 francs, which may be supplemented by banknotes of the Banque de France if necessary. The Chambers of Commerce of Rennes and Saint-Malo will determine the liquidation date of the bonds, with a reimbursement period of at least five years from the date of issue.
The dimensions of the banknote are 114 × 70 mm. The paper used incorporates a watermark representing bees, adding an element of security and authenticity to the banknote.
