This 50 centime banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Moulins and Lapalisse, in the Allier department, France. It is part of Series 161 and is dated October 13, 1916.
The front of the banknote has a light blue background, framed by a red motif. The coat of arms of the Chamber of Commerce is printed on each side of the main text. At the bottom of the banknote, in red, is the name of the printer, B. Arnaud, with the cities of Lyon and Paris mentioned.
The main inscriptions on the front include the mention "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE MOULINS ET LAPALISSE (Allier)" in capital letters. The face value, "50 CENTIMES", is also clearly visible. The signatures of the Treasurer and the President of the Chamber of Commerce are affixed, respectively to the left and right. The serial number, "Série 161 3.243", is printed on the right side.
The back of the banknote displays the value "CINQUANTE CENTIMES" both in numbers and letters. An important message is printed in the center, stating that these vouchers are exchangeable for banknotes of the Banque de France and must be presented for reimbursement before December 15, 1922, unless this deadline is extended.
The printer of this banknote is B. Arnaud, a company based in Villeurbanne, France, which was active from 1898 to 1990.
