This 50 centime note was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Le Mans on July 8, 1915. It belongs to the first series of notes issued by this institution.
On the front, the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DU MANS" can be read at the top of the note. A serial number, "020.004", is printed on the upper part. The signatures of the Treasurer and the President are affixed on either side of the face value "50" and the unit "CENTIMES". The date of issue, "July 8, 1915", is also mentioned.
The reverse of the note bears the face value "0.50" repeated twice. The period of validity of the note, "1915 - 1922", is indicated. A statement specifies that this voucher is guaranteed by a deposit of an equal sum at the Treasury and that it is exchangeable for banknotes at the Banque de France in Le Mans. It is also stipulated that the note must be presented for redemption within five years before July 31, 1920, under penalty of prescription. The mention "1ère Série" is repeated twice. The name of the printer, "IMP. MONNOYER LE MANS", is printed at the bottom of the note.
