This 50-centime note was issued by the City of Abbeville and the Chamber of Commerce of the District of Abbeville. The front of the note features a frame decorated with plant motifs. The face value of "50 C" is clearly indicated, as is the issuer's name: "VILLE D'ABBEVILLE ET CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE L'ARRONDISSEMENT D'ABBEVILLE." The value in words, "0.50 CENTIMES," is also included. A serial number is present, followed by the words "LE PRESIDENT" and "UN ADJOINT," leaving space for signatures. The mention "L.LECLERC FEC CHAIX - IMP" indicates the designer, Léon Leclerc, and the printer, Imprimerie Chaix.
The back of the note features a frame with geometric patterns. The face value "50. C" and the issuer's name "VILLE D'ABBEVILLE CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE L'ARRONDISSEMENT D'ABBEVILLE" are found there. Articles relating to the Banque de France and the conditions of exchange and reimbursement of divisional bonds are inscribed. Article 4 specifies that the Banque de France receives the deposit of divisional bonds. Article 5 stipulates that the Banque de France does not issue divisional bonds for an amount less than 20 francs and that reimbursement on sight is only possible for a presentation of at least fifty francs. Article 7 indicates that the counter-value of bonds not presented for exchange within three months of the liquidation date will be deposited with the Municipal Treasury, which will be required to reimburse for five years, after which the holders will forfeit their rights.
The note has a watermark representing a leaf. It was printed in green on a pink background. The signatures "Le Président" and "Un Adjoint" are present, and the number is printed in black. The mentions "L.LECLERC - FEC." are located in the lower left corner, and "CHAIX - IMP." in the lower right corner. It should be noted that the issue is not dated and that a dry stamp is present. Imprimerie Chaix, based in Paris, was active from 1845 to 1965.
