This 50 centime banknote was issued by the Paris Chamber of Commerce in 1920 and is part of Series A.1. It is an emergency means of payment implemented in a particular economic context.
The obverse of the banknote features a frame adorned with geometric patterns. A medallion is visible on the left, depicting a bust of a helmeted Minerva, facing right and visible from three-quarters. The inscriptions "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE PARIS" and "CINQUANTE CENTIMES" are present. Also included are the mentions "LE TRESORIER" and "LE PRESIDENT", as well as the series indication "A.1" and the banknote number "085.343".
The reverse of the banknote features a frame also composed of geometric patterns. The main inscription indicates that "LES BILLETS EN CIRCULATION SERONT ECHANGEABLES CONTRE DES BILLETS DE LA BANQUE DE FRANCE JUSQU'AU 1 JUILLET 1922". The nominal value "0.50" is mentioned, accompanied by the mention "DELIBERATION DE LA CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE PARIS EN DATE DU 10 MARS 1920".
This 50 centime banknote does not have a watermark. It testifies to a time when Chambers of Commerce were led to issue their own currency due to economic circumstances.
