This 50-centime note was issued on June 1, 1920, by the Chambers of Commerce of Orléans and Blois, in France. It is a necessity note, issued in a difficult economic context after the First World War.
The obverse of the note features the inscription "CHAMBRES DE COMMERCE D'ORLÉANS ET DE BLOIS" at the top, followed by the face value "50 CENT.ES". The signatures of the presidents of the Chambers of Commerce of Blois and Orléans are also present, as well as a serial number, here "596.118". The printer's mention, "IMP. DU LOIRET ORLEANS", appears at the bottom.
The reverse of the note indicates the year of issue, "1920", and the "SOUS-RÉGION ÉCONOMIQUE D'ORLÉANS". An important mention specifies that the note is guaranteed by a deposit of an equivalent sum in the Treasury and that it is exchangeable for banknotes at the Treasury Generals of Orléans and Blois. It also indicates that the note must be presented for reimbursement within three years from the date of issue, under penalty of prescription.
The note has a watermark representing bees. The printer responsible for the manufacture of this note is the Imprimerie du Loiret, located in Orléans, France.
