This 50 centime note was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Évreux in France, following a deliberation dated January 11, 1917. It is an emergency issue, linked to the context of the First European War.
On the obverse, the mention "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE DÉPARTEMENT DE L'EURE" is inscribed at the top of the note, emphasizing the issuing authority. Below, we can read "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE D'EVREUX", followed by the districts for which the note is valid: "Arrondissements d'EVREUX, des ANDELYS, BERNAY et LOUVIERS". The date of the deliberation, "Délibération du 11 janvier 1917", is also mentioned. The face value, "CINQUANTE CENTIMES", is indicated in capital letters. The signatures of the President and Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce also appear on the note, alongside the serial number "N° 314.440". The name of the printer, "NANCY - PARIS BERGER-LEVRAULT", appears at the bottom of the note.
The reverse of the note bears the inscription "GUERRE EUROPÉENNE DE 1914 - 1917", recalling the historical context of its issue. A mention specifies that the final reimbursement of the note was to take place before January 11, 1922. The name of the printer, "Berger-Levrault, Nancy, France", is also repeated on the reverse.
