This 50 centime note was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Eure-et-Loir in April 1917, constituting the 2nd issue of this type. The front of the note features the words "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE D'EURE ET LOIR" in capital letters, followed by "2ème émission AVRIL 1917". The face value, "50 CENTIMES", is clearly indicated. The functions of the President and Treasurer are mentioned, highlighting the responsibility of these figures in the issue of the note. The guarantee of the note is ensured by a deposit with the Public Treasury. The name of the printer, "E TROCHARD CHARTRE", also appears on the front.
The back of the note bears the inscription "1921 GROUPEMENT DE LA REGION PARISIENNE". It specifies that these bonds are redeemable in Chartres in Banque de France banknotes. Redemption is possible at any time until December 31, 1923, in groups of at least ten of each denomination. The cities of Châteauroux, Chartres, Nogent-le-Rotrou and Dreux are also mentioned on the back.
This note has no watermark. It was printed by the Imprimerie E. Trochard, located in Chartres, France. The inscriptions are written in Latin, reflecting the linguistic usage of the time for official documents. All the graphic and textual elements testify to the economic and administrative context of France during and after the First World War, where the Chambers of Commerce played a crucial role in the management of local finances and the facilitation of trade.
