This 50 centime banknote, issued by the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce in 1921, is part of Series 25. The front of the banknote features a cornucopia on the right, ending with the bust of Mercury, recognizable by his winged helmet. A central medallion at the bottom of the banknote depicts a ship's stern.
Inscriptions on the front include "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE BORDEAUX" at the top, followed by "CINQUANTE CENTIMES" in the center. The signatures of the treasurer and president are also present. The mention "SÉRIE" is followed by the serial number "25". The motto "QUO NON HAC DUCE" and the year "1705" complete the inscriptions.
The back of the banknote features a central medallion representing a woman's face adorned with bunches of grapes. This medallion is integrated into a winged caduceus, flanked by a horizontal bar ending in pine cones. The inscriptions ".C.C.B C.C.B." and "50c 50c" are repeated on the sides. The text "EMISSION EN 1921 DE BONS REMBOURSABLES A TOUTE ÉPOQUE MAIS AVANT LE 31 Dec 1926. PAR LES CAISSES PUBLIQUES DE LA CIRCONSCRIPTION ET A LA BANQUE DE FRANCE A BORDEAUX LA CONTRE VALEUR DE CES BONS EST DÉPOSÉE AU TRÉSOR PUBLIC." specifies the terms of reimbursement.
François-Maurice Roganeau is credited as the engraver and designer of the banknote. The printing was done by Wetterwald Frères in Bordeaux, France. The banknote does not have a watermark.
