Description

This 50-centime banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Blois and Loir-et-Cher. It is a banknote from the second issue, dated October 3, 1916. The deadline for redeeming this banknote was October 4, 1918.

On the obverse, the denomination "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE BLOIS ET DE LOIR ET CHER" is written in capital letters. The face value, "CINQUANTE CENTIMES", is also prominently displayed. The signatures of the Treasurer and the President of the Chamber of Commerce are present. The banknote's serial number, composed of six digits, is printed at the bottom center, in this case 088931. The printer mentioned is L. CASSAN AINÉ TOULOUSE.

The serial number is repeated in the lower right corner. The mention "2e émission" (2nd issue) is located in the upper left corner. The banknote does not have a watermark. The inscriptions are written in Latin.

The reverse of the banknote indicates the printer, L. Cassan Ainé, located in Toulouse, France. The inscriptions are also in Latin.

This banknote testifies to an era when local Chambers of Commerce were authorized to issue emergency currency due to cash shortages, particularly during World War I. It represents a fragment of local economic history and alternative monetary practices put in place to alleviate the difficulties of the time.
