Description

This 50 centime banknote was issued by the Belfort Chamber of Commerce in France. It is an emergency issue dating from November 4, 1918, during World War I. The banknote belongs to Series 150.

On the front, one can read the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE BELFORT" at the top of the banknote, followed by the mention "DELIBERATION DU 4 NOVEMBRE 1918". The face value, "50 CENTIMES", is printed in large letters in the center. The serial number, here "25.649", is preceded by the mention "SERIE 150". The printer's name, "IMP. B.ARNAUD LYON _ PARIS", appears at the bottom.

The back of the banknote indicates the value "CINQUANTE CENTIMES". It also includes the mentions "Le Trésorier" and "Le Président", as well as the repayment deadline, set at "November 5, 1923". The printer, B. Arnaud, was based in Villeurbanne, France, and operated from 1898 to 1990.

The banknote is printed in black on light-colored paper. The inscriptions are clear and easily legible. This type of emergency banknote was common during periods of economic crisis or war, when official currencies were scarce or difficult to obtain.
