This is a five-livre assignat issued in France, dated 10 Brumaire An II (October 31, 1793) according to the Republican calendar. The signature affixed is that of Mégnié. This assignat is part of a total issue of 28744 different series, with about a hundred different signatories.
The obverse of the assignat features the face value, "5", placed in the center. It also includes the date of issue, as well as the national motto of the time. The following inscriptions are present: "Unité Indivisibilité de la République", "Liberté Egalité Faternité ou la Mort", "Créé le 10 Brumaire l'an 2me de la République Française", "Assignat de cinq Livres", "La Loi Punit de Mort le Contrefacteur" and "La Nation Récompense le Dénonciateur". The reverse of the assignat is blank.
A watermark is integrated into the paper, representing the value "5" and a monogram "RF" (République Française) inscribed in a circle. The dimensions of the assignat are 94 mm in length and 59 mm in width.
A dry stamp is affixed to the bottom left of the assignat. This stamp, with a diameter of 26 mm, represents the Genius of the Constitution seated. It leans on the statue of Artemis (symbol of Nature) to his right and on the Tables of the Law to his left, where one can read "DROIT DE L'HOM". The dry stamp was engraved by GATTEAUX.
