Description

The 5 Francs Semeuse coin, minted in 1994, is a numismatic representation of the French Republic. Composed of copper and nickel, it weighs 10 grams and has a diameter of 29 millimeters. The production of this coin amounts to 6,000,000 copies.

The obverse of the coin features the Semeuse, an allegorical figure emblematic of Republican France. In the background, a sun rises on the horizon, adding a symbolic dimension to the scene. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in capital letters, emphasizing the national identity. The signature "O. Roty" indicates that Louis-Oscar Roty is the engraver of this face.

The reverse of the coin presents a set of plant symbols, including an olive branch, an oak branch, and an ear of wheat. These elements are arranged under the face value of "5 FRANCS". The republican motto "LIBERTE ? EGALITE ? FRATERNITE" encircles this vegetal assortment, reinforcing the fundamental values of the nation. The year of issue, 1994, is also indicated on this side. Louis-Oscar Roty is also the engraver of the reverse.

The edge of the coin is reeded. A mint mark representing a dolphin is present, indicating the place of manufacture.
