The 5 Francs Sower coin, minted in 1972, is a French coin. Its face value is 5 francs.
This coin is made from an alloy of copper and nickel. It weighs 10 grams and its diameter is 29 millimeters. The mintage for this year amounts to 45,507,000 copies.
The obverse of the coin depicts the Sower, a symbol of the French Republic. In the background, we see the sun rising on the horizon. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in an arc above the Sower. The signature "O. Roty" of the engraver Louis-Oscar Roty, also appears on this face.
The reverse of the coin features a set of plant motifs composed of an olive branch, an oak branch and an ear of wheat. These elements frame the face value "5 FRANCS" and the year of issue "1972". The national motto "LIBERTE ? EGALITE ? FRATERNITE" is arranged in an arc around these motifs.
The edge of the coin is reeded. Louis-Oscar Roty is the engraver of both the obverse and the reverse.
