This 5 franc banknote, issued by the cities of Roubaix and Tourcoing, belongs to the sixth series of this local issue. The front of the banknote features a salmon-colored frame, adorned with stylized leaf motifs. At the center of the upper part, a circle houses a representation of Marianne, an allegorical figure of the French Republic.
The face value of the banknote, "CINQ FRANCS", is written in white inside a dark blue rectangle, occupying a central position on the banknote. The inscription "VILLES DE ROUBAIX ET DE TOURCOING" appears at the top of the banknote, while the mention "BON DE MONNAIE" is placed below. A statement specifies that this banknote is guaranteed by the cities of Roubaix and Tourcoing, in accordance with the approved municipal resolutions.
The signatures of the Mayor of Roubaix and the Mayor of Tourcoing are affixed at the bottom of the banknote. An important indication stipulates that, to be valid, the banknote must be marked with the dry stamp of one of the two issuing cities. The cancellation of the banknote is carried out by perforation.
The back of the banknote features the respective coats of arms of the cities of Roubaix and Tourcoing, positioned on the left and right. An inscription, referring to Article 139 of the Penal Code, warns against the counterfeiting and falsification of banknotes authorized by law, as well as against the use and introduction of such counterfeit banknotes on French territory, recalling the penalties incurred for these offenses.
