This 5 Francs coin, minted in 1981, comes from a Brilliant Uncirculated (FDC) set. It is made of cupronickel, weighing 10 grams and measuring 29 millimeters in diameter.
The obverse of the coin features the Sower, an allegory of the French Republic. This figure is positioned in front of a rising sun on the horizon. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in an arc above the Sower, while the signature "O. Roty" of the engraver Louis-Oscar Roty appears below.
The reverse of the coin presents a set of plant motifs including an olive branch, an oak branch, and an ear of wheat. These elements frame the face value "5 FRANCS". The national motto "LIBERTE ? EGALITE ? FRATERNITE" is arranged around these symbols, completing the design. The engraver of this side is also Louis-Oscar Roty.
The edge of the coin is reeded, offering a distinct texture to the touch.
