On the front of the banknote, there is a bust of Louis Pasteur positioned on the left. On the right, a representation of the Pasteur Institute is visible. Plant motifs, notably bunches of grapes, also adorn the front. The face value of "5" and the mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" are written out in full. The face value "5" is repeated twice in numbers. In the background, test tubes, a microscope and various scientific instruments are represented. Rabbits, sheep and roosters are integrated into the corners of the banknote. The face value "5" and the mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" are also inscribed on the back. A legal text, Article 139 of the Penal Code, is reproduced in full, warning against the counterfeiting and falsification of banknotes.
