This French banknote has a face value of 5 francs. It was issued on May 5, 1966, and belongs to the H.8 series. Its dimensions are 140 mm in length and 75 mm in width.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Louis Pasteur on the left. On the right, a representation of the Pasteur Institute is visible. Plant motifs, including bunches of grapes, also adorn this side of the banknote. The inscriptions include the face value "5" as well as the words "BANQUE DE FRANCE" and "CINQ FRANCS". The engraver of this part of the banknote is Gilbert Poilliot, while the design is the work of Pierrette Lambert.
On the back, there is another portrait of Louis Pasteur, this time on the right. On the left, a statue of the shepherd Jupille is depicted. The background illustrates test tubes, a microscope, and various scientific instruments. Rabbits, sheep, and roosters are arranged in the corners. Legal inscriptions are also present, including Article 139 of the Penal Code concerning the counterfeiting and falsification of banknotes. The engraver of this part of the banknote is Henri Renaud, and the design is also by Pierrette Lambert.
The banknote's watermark depicts the head of Louis Pasteur in profile.
