This French banknote with a face value of five francs was issued on September 1, 1966. It belongs to series P.25.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Louis Pasteur on the left side. On the right, a representation of the Pasteur Institute is visible. Plant motifs, including bunches of grapes, also adorn this side.
The inscriptions in Latin letters include the face value "5" repeated, the name of the issuing institution "BANQUE DE FRANCE", and the value in words "CINQ FRANCS". The engraver of this side is Gilbert Poilliot, while the design is the work of Pierrette Lambert.
The back of the banknote features another portrait of Louis Pasteur, this time on the right side. A statue of the shepherd Jupille is visible on the left. The background is composed of test tubes, a microscope, and other scientific instruments. Illustrations of rabbits, sheep, and roosters are arranged in the corners.
The inscriptions, also in Latin, include the face value "5", the name of the issuing institution "BANQUE DE FRANCE", and an excerpt from Article 139 of the Penal Code relating to the penalties incurred for counterfeiting banknotes. Henri Renaud is the engraver of this side, and Pierrette Lambert is also the designer.
