The 1973 Marianne 5 centime coin is a French production struck in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition and comes from a mint set. It has a face value of 5 centimes.
This coin weighs 2 grams and has a diameter of 17 millimeters. The obverse features a bust of the French Republic, wearing a Phrygian cap, with long hair and ribbons from the collar fluttering in the wind. The engraver's signature, LAGRIFFOUL, is visible in the field, in front of the neck, on the left side.
The reverse of the coin displays the inscription "LIBERTE - EGALITE - FRATERNITE" arranged on two lines. In the center, the face value "5 CENTIMES" is inscribed, topped by the year of issue, 1973. The whole is framed by a laurel branch and an ear of wheat. The engraver's signature, A. DIEUDONNE, is discreetly placed to the left of the laurel branch, near the rim.
Henri Lagriffoul is the engraver responsible for the design of the obverse, while Adrien Dieudonné designed the reverse. This coin is a testament to the classic design of French coins of that era, highlighting republican symbols and the values of the nation.
