This 25-cent note was issued by the towns of Roubaix and Tourcoing, dated December 16, 1916, and constitutes the ninth series of this type of currency. The front of the note displays the nominal value "0.25" repeated in the upper corners. The words "VILLES DE ROUBAIX ET DE TOURCOING" occupy the upper central part, followed by the designation "BON DE MONNAIE". Further down, "NEUVIÈME SÉRIE" precedes the value "25 CENTIMES" again.
A guarantee is inscribed, stipulating that the note is guaranteed by the towns of Roubaix and Tourcoing and redeemable at each town's revenue office from the sixth month after the conclusion of peace. The deliberation of the Roubaix municipal council is dated December 16, 1916, with approval from the prefectural authority dated December 28, 1916. A serial number "N°509" is visible, as well as the mentions "LE MAIRE DE ROUBAIX LE MAIRE DE TOURCOING". A control number, "N° DE CONTRÔLE 49161", is also printed.
An instruction specifies that the note must be stamped with the dry stamp of one of the two towns to be valid. The name of the printer, "Louis Debode, Imp, Roubaix", appears in the lower left. The back of the note displays the value "0.25" in the upper and lower corners. The words "VILLE DE" and "CENTIMES" frame the names "ROUBAIX" and "TOURCOING", suggesting a joint issue. The printing company responsible for manufacturing this note is Imprimerie Louis Debode, located in Roubaix, France.
